The collection Cí Rén (Porcelain Man) is the first collaboration between artist Lin Wang and designer Vaida Voraitė. This collection explores poetic misunderstandings between two cultures; Western European and Eastern Chinese. The collection reflects on the nostalgia of tattoo art, while looking into contemporary stereotypes of tattooed men as being carriers for their (love)stories. Combining Norwegian contemporary art, tattoos and Lithuanian fashion, silk and white porcelain meet. The white Chinese porcelain could be read in line with the fragility of stereotypes, while silk becomes a metaphor for contemporary masculinity. One might ask; why is the notion of a sensitive man in our society as fragile as a porcelain plate?

The collection is partly financed by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.

Lin Wang (b. 1985, Shandong, China) lives and works in Oslo, Norway. Lin is an interdisciplinary artist working mainly with porcelain sculptures and performances. Solo exhibitions include Exotic Dreams and Poetic Misunderstandings - The Silk Roads, presented at Vigeland Museum, KODE Art Museum in Bergen; Pin-up China Girl, a performance piece first shown at Entrée Gallery in Bergen, and many others. Her porcelain sculptures are part of the permanent collection of the Oslo National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design.
